Studio Caritas is the evolving studio practice of Kate McDuffie.

Kate (B. 1998, North Carolina; lives and works in New York) is self-taught from the beginning, and has always understood herself as an artist first. Previously working under the name Ghost Kat, she built a widely recognized tattoo practice known for its precision and elevated detail. While this was a significant chapter in her life, her practice has always been rooted in art itself.

Today, her focus has fully returned to fine art. Since early childhood, drawing was a defining part of Kate's life, and the foundation from which everything else has grown. Her debut collection, Back to God, was rendered primarily in pencil — a deliberate return to that beginning. For Kate, drawing does not have to be a preliminary step, but can be the work itself.

She is currently expanding her practice into oil painting and has also undertaken an apprenticeship in Italian sacred art — immersing herself in the ancient disciplines of gilding and egg tempera as a way of entering more deeply into the intersection of faith and art.

Currently based in New York, Studio Caritas is both a continuation and a transformation: an unrestricted space for work that moves freely across ideas, mediums, and meaning.
