I Am That I Am
I Am That I Am is a mixed media work from the Back to God collection, executed primarily in graphite with acrylic paint and gold leaf accents, on 22×30 inch archival paper. The piece is a meditation on God's chosen people and the covenant that defines them.
At the center stands a young Jewish girl holding a Passover lamb, its chest marked with blood. In her hand she carries a flag bearing the words “I Am That I Am” written in Hebrew - the name God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, the declaration of His eternal, self-existent nature. The Sword of David is staked in the ground beside her. The walnut frame itself is painted with red acrylic along its posts, representing the blood marked on the doorposts of the Israelites on the night of Passover.
Presented in a custom-built walnut light box frame with embedded LED strips and museum-quality non-reflective glass.
