Graphite drawing of an eagle taking flight while a girl runs beside him with her arms outstretched, detail view — You Thought You Were Alone?, by Kate McDuffie

You thought you were alone?

You thought you were alone? is a mixed media work from the Back to God collection, executed primarily in graphite with colored pencil accents on 22×30 inch archival paper. A girl and an eagle run side by side, turning to look at one another as the eagle takes flight. A quiet and intimate moment between human and the divine. The eagle carries an olive branch, a gesture of peace. The title is God’s question and His answer at once: you thought you were alone, but you never were.
